Safety is our number-one priority. Given the activities on site, the Big Elm Solar team and the general contractor, Wanzek, maintain a strict personal protective equipment (PPE) policy. Required PPE includes a hardhat, safety glasses, safety-toed boots, cut-resistant gloves, a high-visibility safety vest, and fire-retardant outerwear when necessary.
The site identifies daily hazards through its Job Hazard Analysis and posts these JHAs at each active work site. Hazards could include open trenches, operating equipment, barricaded areas including internal roads, exposed electrical equipment, and even roaming wildlife.
Given the extensive array of equipment being worked on and the number of personnel on site, site security stands as a critical pillar in construction activity. Its significance lies not only in safeguarding the well-being of workers but also in ensuring the safety of the public.
Perimeter fencing has been installed across the site to enhance safety by controlling pedestrian and vehicle traffic, reducing the risk of accidents, and helping promote a safe site organization. Additionally, security cameras have been distributed across the site for surveillance, theft prevention, and unauthorized access identification.
Anyone not on the construction team is required to enter the site from Connection Road through the site’s access entrance 9 and check in with the Big Elm team. The site office address is 8936 Connection Road, Troy, TX 76579. The Big Elm team can provide an escort on site to ensure proper safety protocol is followed. We ask that visitors check in to avoid being locked inside the project site after working hours. Unauthorized or unescorted entry is prohibited.
